This article describes the legacy Keywords and Keyword Details reports in Conductor. You might have access to these reports because:
- You have chosen to access them from the new Keywords report using the Return to Previous Keywords Report button. While the new Keywords and Keyword Details reports are currently in a beta, we do plan on retiring the previous, legacy reports soon.
- Your organization uses the EU instance of Conductor. While the new Keywords and Keyword Details reports are not currently supported for EU customers, we do anticipate supporting them soon.
In the meantime, we still want to provide support content for these features. See below of more information.
Keywords
The Keywords report provides you with holistic, aggregated keyword reporting. You can find high-level information for your keywords and sort along a number of different dimensions to help you learn how your tracked keywords perform.
The Keywords report is also home to the Visibility Distribution chart, which you can use to see trended visibility zone data.

Keywords Overview
Set and Manage Filters to Focus on Your Most Relevant Keywords
To focus on the most relevant and useful data to better address your specific goals, you can choose the context from which you want to see data and then further filter the results in the table. You can then save these filters to use again and share them with your team.
Determine the Scope of Your Report
Configure the following controls to determine what data the Keyword Performance report shows:
- Use the Content and Search Engine menu to determine the search context for the data in the report.
- Use the Rank Type menu to select whether you want to see keywords sorted by True Rank or Standard Rank.
- Use the Date Picker to select the date range you want to report on.
- Use the Location and Device menu to determine more about the search context you want to see data for.
- Use the Prime button to show data only for keywords you have set as Prime.
- Use the Keyword Groups menu to set the keyword groups you want to see data for.
Refine the Data with a Filter
After determining the reporting context at the top of the report, you can further refine the data in the Keywords table.
- Select from a menu of pre-set filters.
- Click one of the favorite filters in the Your Favorite Saved Filters menu
- Select a filter from the Saved Filters menu
- Click one of the favorite filters in the Your Favorite Saved Filters menu

Create your own filter, which you can save to use again. You can use the menus in the Filters section to fine-tune which results appear in the table.

The Rank Position menu lets you filter by specific positions or visibility zones on results pages such as In Top 3 or Striking Distance.
- The Result Types menu lets you choose to see keywords based on the universal result types that appear for your highest ranked result.
- The Monthly Search Volume (MSV) menu lets you choose to see keywords that have specific ranges of monthly search volume, which you can use as a measure of search interest or visibility.
- The New Highest-Ranked URL menu lets you choose to see keywords based on whether it has a new highest-ranking page.

The Rank Position menu lets you filter by specific positions or visibility zones on results pages such as In Top 3 or Striking Distance.
Save a Filter
Want to save a filter that you create? After choosing your filter parameters:
- Click Save Filter. This button appears after you have applied one or more filters to your results.
The Create a Saved Filter form appears.
- Enter a name for the filters.
- Choose whether the filter is Personal (it will appear only for you) or Shared (it will appear for all users in your account).
- Choose to add the filter to your Favorites, which appear as favorite filters at the top of the section.
- Click Save.
Add or Remove a Favorite Filter
Want to add or remove a favorite filter from the Your Favorite Saved Filters section? Just click the star in the Saved Filters menu.
Review the Visibility Distribution chart
At the top of the report, click the menu titled "Your Visibility Over Time". The Visibility Distribution chart appears.
This chart shows you a trended view of your keyword ranks, grouped across visibility zones. This view offers an at-a-glance view of your keyword performance. Note that the time periods you are currently reporting on in the Keywords report are highlighted in yellow.
- Choose to see the trended data for 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, or 12 months. By default, the chart shows 3 months of data.
- Choose to show the visibility zone data as a percentage of your total reported keywords. This option is useful if the number of keywords you report on has fluctuated over time.
Note that you can see labels for data points in the Your Visibility Over Time chart when you set the report to show fewer than eight weeks of data.
Review Annotations
You can see Public Event annotations in this chart to identify any potential industry events that might have affected your performance.
Review the Keywords table
Choose the Columns to Display
Use the Columns menu to select the columns you want to see:

Tracked Keyword
- Prime
Indicates whether a keyword has been marked as prime. - Keyword
Appears and shows keywords based on the report filters you have selected. -
Monthly Search Volume
Indicates the monthly search volume for this keyword. - MSV Trend
Shows the trended monthly search volume to visualize seasonality and fluctuation.

True/Standard Rank ([first time period])
Indicates the keyword's rank during the first time period reported on. -
True/Standard Rank ([second time period])
Indicates the keyword's rank during the second time period reported on. -
Rank Change
Indicates the difference between the rank reported on in the first and second time periods. -
Number of Results
Indicates the number of pages from your web property that rank for the keyword. You can use this to find keywords you own lots of results for and issues where your pages may be cannibalizing each other.

Indicates the universal result type for the highest ranked result from your domain during the first time period reported on. -
Result Type ([second time period])
Indicates the universal result type for the highest ranked result from your domain during the second time period reported on.
- Page Title & URL
Indicates the URL associated with your domain's highest-ranked result for the keyword. -
Preferred URL
Indicates whether the preferred URL configured for the keyword is your web property's highest-ranked result.
- New Highest Ranked URL
Indicates whether your web property's highest-ranked result for the keyword has changed between the first and second time period you are reporting on.

Review the Data in the Table
- In the Keyword column, you can click the down arrow to reveal more information about the keyword:
- If you want to dig into a particular keyword, click on its name in the Keyword column to go to the Keyword Details report.
- You can search the table by URL or by Keyword.
Note that this table shows only up to 500 keywords at once. To see all your keyword data, you can export your data, as described below.
Export Your Keywords
The export feature on this report is one of the most commonly-used exports in Conductor. You can export a list of all your tracked keywords to a native Microsoft Excel file. With this data in Excel, you can filter, sort, and manipulate your keywords to gain greater clarity, as well as merge other sources of data with your keyword list.

Keywords FAQs
What is the difference between the Keyword Export tab and the Expanded Keywords Export tab in the export from the Keywords report?
The Keyword Export tab includes only the highest-ranking URL for each keyword.
The Expanded Keyword Export tab includes all ranking URLs for each keyword.
Why don't I see all of my tracked keywords in the Keywords report?
The table in the Keywords report shows up to 500 keywords at a time. To see more—or all —your keywords you can export this data to a Microsoft Excel file.
Why are the bars in the "Your Visibility Over Time" bar graph different heights?
By default, each time period is a represented with a bar, and each bar represents the total number the keywords you track. The total number of keywords you track can change from time period to time period, so you'll see different heights over time.
If you want, you can select the View Chart in Percentages check box to compare visibility zone percentages over time. Because the total percentage for each time period will always be 100%, you'll always have the same height on each bar in the graph.
Keyword Details: Visibility
The Keyword Details report provides a holistic view of a keyword's world, so you can identify weaknesses in your strategy to improve and strengths to optimize. In this report, you can see the ranking results for an individual keyword-- including the ranking pages that appear in the top 100 positions. Review monthly search volume seasonality for the keyword, rank changes and trends, insight into rank volatility. You can also use this report to gain greater insight to image results, news results, or other universal results that appear for the keyword in search.

Access the Keyword Details reports for a keyword. For example, follow the path Measure > Keywords and click a keyword listed in the table.
Overview
Choose the data you want the report to include
Choose whether you want to view your keyword's True Rank or standard rank.
If you haven't already, choose the location and device associated with the keyword you want to report on.
Choose the dates you want to report on. Choosing more than one time period lets you to view changes in rank.
Review the data in the report
Review the summary bar, which shows high-level data about this keyword and it's performance.
- Your content's highest rank for this keyword. Did not rank refers to a page that did not appear in the top 100 positions and "Not on 1st page" refers to a top ranking page that was not visible on the first page of results.
- The number of your competitors that are ranking above your content highest ranking page.
- The number of ranking results tells you how many positions are visible on the first page. For many keywords that do not display any universal results, you might see 7-10 results, but for keywords with local packs or in-depth articles, you might see more.
Review the table:
- The Results section of the table gives you information about the page, its URL and title, and result type.
- The Visibility Performance section shows you the ranks associated with the keyword you are reporting on.
Use the Universal Results section at the bottom of the report to see what universal results appear for this keyword and who ranks for them.
Keyword Details: Rank Trends
Understand and fix traffic drops based around individual keywords with the Keyword Details: Rank Trends report. This global feature lets you:
- See how your content ranks for a keyword over time.
- Filter by location, device, and search engine.
- Get insight into how volatile your visibility is for the keyword so you can take steps to stabilize your performance.
Where to find it
Access the Keyword Details reports for a keyword. For example, follow the path Measure > Keywords and click a keyword listed in the table. Click to go to the Rank Trends tab at the top.

Determine the Data That Appears in the Report
If you haven't already, choose the location and device associated with the keyword you want to report on.
Choose whether you want to view your keyword's True Rank or standard rank.
Choose the time period you want to report on.
Review the Data in the Report
To see more information, you can click the arrow to see:
- All of the ranking pages for this keyword.
- Links to generate topic suggestions or to the page itself.
- If applicable, your preferred URL for the keyword.
If you want to show the trends for each of the ranking pages, click the toggle to show Each Page's Rank for that web property.
The summary bar includes:
- High-level data about the keyword, including the monthly search volume and the total number of results on the first page.
- Information about your content's highest-ranked result.
- A diagnosis about your content's rank trend. Conductor analyzes your ranks and evaluates the keyword as having one of the following trend types.
- Volatile Visibility
- Consistent Visibility
- Upward Trend Visibility
- Downward Trend Visibility
The volatility metric looks at all of the rankings during the reported time period. Conductor then calculates a "line of best fit", and depending on the slope, will report whether your visibility is Consistent, Downward, Upward, or Volatile.
The trend graph shows your keyword's rank trend for your content and compares it to your comparison content. You can choose which content you want to compare from the menu on the right.
