You can use keyword groups in this workflow. Need to create new groups? Learn how to set up keyword groups.
- Go to Keyword Groups ↗️ (Measure > Keyword Groups).
- Sort the Average Content Opportunity Score table column to show the biggest highest opportunities at the top—so you can find where your content has the best chances for driving traffic.
- Click the keyword groups with the highest score (or one with importance to your goals). You are taken to the Keywords report, filtered to show only the keywords in your selected keyword group.
- Filter to show only the keywords where you have content in "striking distance".
- Review your keywords and the pages you have ranking for them. Is your ranking page the one you expect? Do you have pages cannibalizing ranks? With a little optimization, you can get these keywords out of striking distance and your content into the top 10 search results.
- Back in Keyword Groups, sort the Average Rank table column to show the lowest at the top.
- Filter to show only the keywords where your content did not rank, and then by highest monthly search volume.
- Review the keywords to source new content ideas to rank for these topics.
