Keyword Details: Rank Trends
Understand and fix traffic drops based around individual keywords with the Keyword Details: Rank Trends report. This global feature lets you:
- See how your content ranks for a keyword over time.
- Filter by location, device, and search engine.
- Get insight into how volatile your visibility is for the keyword so you can take steps to stabilize your performance.
Where to find it
Access the Keyword Details reports for a keyword. For example, follow the path Measure > Keywords and click a keyword listed in the table. Click to go to the Rank Trends tab at the top.
Overview
Determine the Data That Appears in the Report
If you haven't already, choose the location and device associated with the keyword you want to report on.
Choose whether you want to view your keyword's True Rank or standard rank.
Choose the time period you want to report on.
Review the Data in the Report
To see more information, you can click the arrow to see:
- All of the ranking pages for this keyword.
- Links to generate topic suggestions or to the page itself.
- If applicable, your preferred URL for the keyword.
If you want to show the trends for each of the ranking pages, click the toggle to show Each Page's Rank for that web property.
The summary bar includes:
- High-level data about the keyword, including the monthly search volume and the total number of results on the first page.
- Information about your content's highest-ranked result.
- A diagnosis about your content's rank trend. Conductor analyzes your ranks and evaluates the keyword as having one of the following trend types.
- Volatile Visibility
- Consistent Visibility
- Upward Trend Visibility
- Downward Trend Visibility
The volatility metric looks at all of the rankings during the reported time period. Conductor then calculates a "line of best fit", and depending on the slope, will report whether your visibility is Consistent, Downward, Upward, or Volatile.
The trend graph shows your keyword's rank trend for your content and compares it to your comparison content. You can choose which content you want to compare from the menu on the right.

The table lists data for each web property, including the number of ranking pages, the rank for your highest ranked keyword, and your rank change over the time period.
