Which search engines and languages does Conductor support?

As of May 2024, Conductor supports collecting search data for the search engines listed below. The data drawn from these engines depends on where you access the data in Conductor:

• Tracked topic data in AI Search appears in the AI Search Performance provides insight into the topics you track track for AI search results. To learn which specific locations Conductor supports tracking topics for, refer to this FAQ.
• Tracked keyword data in Traditional Search provides insight into the keywords you identify as important to your organization's search strategy. To learn which specific locations and devices Conductor supports tracking keywords for across each of the search engines listed below, refer to this FAQ.
• Keyword discovery data in Research appears in reports found in the Discover menu (Explorer, Content Guidance, etc.). Note that Baidu is available only for keyword discovery in Explorer, not for Content Guidance or Paid and Organic Optimizer. What should I know about Naver?

Organizations with a presence in South Korea know that Naver—South Korea's foremost search engine—is central to search marketing in that region. To provide these organizations with insight into keywords and rankings in Naver, Conductor partners with Dragon Metrics, who provides best-in-class search data from the APAC region.

As an add-on feature in Conductor, you can see Naver data in rank-based reports, such as Keywords and Keyword Details: Visibility. Discover your rankings and your competitors' rankings for keywords on Naver.

Tracked Naver keywords are considered premium, so contact your Account Director if you are interested in adding premium keywords to your account.

How is Naver Different?

In Conductor, Naver data appears only for keywords tracked at the country-level on desktop. Additionally, only standard results appear.

Note that Naver results pages feature universal results heavily. Though Conductor does not report on universal results for Naver, these results primarily link to platforms owned by Naver. As a result, page optimization on your site will affect standard links primarily, and is your best opportunity for a return on your search marketing efforts.

What should I know about Baidu?

Organizations with a presence in China know that Baidu—China's foremost search engine—is critical to search marketing in that region. To provide these organizations with insight into keywords and rankings in Baidu, Conductor partners with Dragon Metrics, who provides best-in-class search data from the APAC region.

As an add-on feature in Conductor, you can see Baidu data in:

• The Explorer report. You can explore topics and sites on Baidu to learn how audiences and brands talk about topics. Certain Conductor packages provide support for exploring Baidu data as an add-on feature. Contact Conductor Customer Success to add this data to Explorer. Note that this data is included for organizations that use the Enterprise package.
• Rank-based reports, such as Keywords and Keyword Details: Visibility. Discover your rankings and your competitors' rankings for keywords on Baidu. Tracked Baidu keywords are considered premium, so contact Conductor Customer Success if you are interested in adding premium searches to your account.

How is Baidu Different?

Baidu's search results types, while similar in appearance and concept to other search engines' result types, often behave differently when users click the result. As a result, it is important to understand these differences so you can best know how to approach your search marketing efforts.

The most important thing to know about Baidu is that most of the result types link to other Baidu-owned properties. To rank for these results takes some effort, different tactical decisions, and careful planning. Review the result types below to learn more about each:

Standard Links

Link most engines, Baidu has standard links where your site can rank. However, Baidu search engine results pages have many universal result types, which diminish the total number of standard links on the first page of results.

Images

Baidu Image results usually link out to non-Baidu sites. They also appear frequently appear on results pages, so they represent great opportunities to directly influence traffic to your site.

News

Baidu News results aggregate news results, most of which are drawn from Baidu's own Baijiahao platform, which hosts news content. It is possible for News results to link to non-Baidu pages, but to qualiffy, Baidu must approve sites as a verified news source. Publishers can try to receive verification to potentially rank for these News results.

Video

Video results on Baidu primarily link to Baidu's own video search engine. Non-Baidu sites can appear for these results, but they come most frequently from a set of Chinese video-hosting platforms. If your organization focuses on video content, publish videos to these platforms to increase its potential to appear in these results.

Forum

Forum results are drawn from two sources: Baidu Zhidao and Baidu Tieba.

Baidu Zhidao is a public question and answer platform similar to Quora or Yahoo Answers. Though these results never link out to a non-Baidu site, focusing SEO efforts on Zhidao is not a lost cause. These results often appear prominently on results pages and you can use Zhidao to provide question and answer content to improve brand visibility and deliver targeted, educational content.

Baidu Tieba is a popular forum-style social platform similar to Reddit, where users discuss topics. Results sourced from Tieba never link out to other sites, but your organization can engage with the community by creatinging a content strategy around the forum topics about which your audience cares.

Encyclopedia

Encyclopedia results are drawn from two sources: Baidu Baike and Baidu Wenku.

Baidu Baike is similar to Wikipedia. These encyclopedia results always link to Baike pages and never to non-Baidu sites. Because this content is user-generated, your organization can maintain a Baike article to optimize it for your branded keywords.

Baidu Wenku is Baidu-owned document sharing platform, where authors can publish research papers, education materials, and other documents across various document formats. Though these results never link out to a non-Baidu site, your organization can publish branded content on the Wenku platform to raise brand awareness and deliver targeted, educational material.

Local

Local results are drawn from Baidu Maps, which never link out to a non-Baidu site. Unlike Google Places, Baidu Maps is far less feature-rich. For navigational or local results, there is very little local SEO opportunity on which your organization can capitalize.
